Wisdom Teeth

Painful Wisdom tooth

The tooth in the very back of your mouth is known as a wisdom tooth, and for many people these teeth cannot grow and become impacted, or stuck, in the gum. This situation is serious, as it’s possible to get an infection, resulting in tremendous pain. Having the tooth (or teeth) extracted by a dentist is the only solution.

Again, it’s important you see a dentist immediately, however, for short term relief, take an over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol or Advil, and rinse your mouth every few hours with a solution of 8 oz warm water and a tsp  of salt to help ease inflammation. You may also need a prescription for antibiotics to further prevent infection.

Dental Care Princeton can be reached 24 hours a day in a dental emergency. Call the office now and a highly-trained member of our professional staff will help you.
